What'sBest! is an add-in to Excel that allows you to
build large scale optimization models in a free form layout within a
spreadsheet. What'sBest! combines the proven power of linear, nonlinear and
integer optimization with Microsoft Excel -- the most popular and flexible
business modeling environment in use today. The recently released What'sBest!
9.0 includes a number of significant enhancements and new features.
Faster, More Powerful Solvers
and Added Support for Excel® 2007, and Microsoft® Vista®
What’sBest! 9.0, a new release of our Solver add-in
for Excel, is faster and more powerful and adds support for the recently
released Microsoft® Office 2007, and Microsoft® Vista®.
What’sBest! 9.0 is an average of 80% faster at
solving linear models due to enhancements to the Dual and Primal Simplex
solvers. The Barrier solver is an average of 20% faster on large scale linear
and quadratic models. Enhancements to the Simplex and Barrier solvers also
improve handling of numerically difficult problems.
The Integer solver is an average of 40% faster on a wide range of integer
models. It also includes a number of enhancements to more quickly find and
improve integer solutions and to better exploit a wider range of problem
structures.
The general Nonlinear Solver is an average of 25% faster on highly nonlinear and
complex models. The Global solver includes a number of enhancements for
improving robustness on solving nonconvex nonlinear models to global optimality.
Release 9.0 has expanded support to include the recently released Microsoft
Office Excel® 2007 in addition to support for Excel® 2003.
Function support has been greatly expanded with the new release. The new release
adds support for all native Excel functions as well as user defined functions in
Excel®. Also new is the support of functions using text strings as arguments.
